Starhawk Releases May 8th!

For any of you who have been living in a cave the past several months, Sony is about to release the highly anticipated new PS3 game from their Austin studio, Lightbox Interactive. Starhawk, which is a sequel (of sorts) to 2007's successful game Warhawk, comes out in just two weeks... and we cannot wait!

Powerhouse has been lucky enough to work with our neighbors at Lightbox on this project creating several 2d cinematics for the game-- many of which are featured in their newest trailer. The Banner Saga

Powerhouse Animation is excited to announce our involvement with the upcoming Banner Saga from Austin-based Stoic Studio!

In case you haven't heard about this project yet, the Banner Saga, according to the good folks at Stoic, "is a role-playing game merged with turn-based strategy, wrapped into an adventure mini-series about vikings." We've been enlisted by the Stoic team to produce some character attack animations as well as some animated cutscenes for the game-- which is slated to have its initial release sometime this summer.

Powerhouse Animation goes to 11!

Powerhouse Animation celebrated our 11th anniversary as a company on Sunday... yes, you heard me right, we were formed on April Fools Day. Seems appropriate don't it?

We celebrated by eating cakes with our faces on them, and drinking champagne!

Thanks to everyone who has supported us over the past 11 years, and here's to 11 more!!

Powerhouse Discovers Augmented Reality

Powerhouse Animation ventured into the world of augmented reality last week after coming across Aurasma during SXSW. Aurasma is a free app that allows you to integrate virtual content with real life objects and images.

If you'd like to subscribe to the Powerhouse Animation channel please follow the simple instructions below:

Aurasma setup and subscription instructions:

1. On your smartphone or iPad, download the app Aurasma Lite and install it

2. The first time you run the app it will ask you if you already have the Aurasma image. Select yes-- this will bypass the a cumbersome tutorial.

3. Within the app, there is a button in the top left corner that looks like a radio tower. Select it to bring up the menu.

4. Within the menu, scroll to the right to show the search button. Select search, and type "Powerhouse" in the search bar.

5. The search results will display the Powerhouse channel (the powerhouse animation studios logo will be displayed), with a button on the right side to subscribe.

6. Select the subscribe button to join the channel. This will allow you to have access to auras that Powerhouse makes, and will also prompt you to register for an Aurasma account. The account will require an email and a password.

7. After you have made the account, select done. Now you have access to the auras powerhouse animation posts.
